As part of the “Air Quality Improvement Project in the Kyrgyz Republic” (AQIP), implemented by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Bishkek Mayor’s Office received specialized equipment to enhance management, reconstruction, and maintenance of irrigation networks, as well as cleaning of riverbeds and canals in the capital.
The equipment transfer aims to strengthen the urban ecosystem, improve efficiency in managing irrigation networks, and enhance air quality in Bishkek.
The handover ceremony was attended by the Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, Meder Mashiev, Bishkek Mayor Aybek Junushaliev, representatives of relevant agencies, project implementation staff, and other stakeholders.
Nine units of specialized machinery were transferred to the city administration, including excavators, dump trucks, and a combined machine with sludge suction and canal cleaning equipment. The total cost of the procurement amounted to approximately 67 million soms.
The acquired equipment will significantly improve the efficiency and quality of seasonal and emergency works, ensure timely maintenance of the city’s irrigation networks, and accelerate response to emergencies in urban areas.
Minister M. Mashiev emphasized the importance of joint efforts to improve air quality in the capital, while Mayor Aybek Junushaliev expressed gratitude to the ministry, noting that the new equipment will provide substantial support for greening and beautifying the city.
