A meeting was held in the city with specialists from municipal services and representatives of the Department of Monitoring and Forecasting of Emergencies of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic, together with Evgeny Sokolov, head of the Engineering and Technical Civil Defense and Emergency Prevention Department of the Research Institute of Prospective Urban Development.
During the meeting, participants discussed issues related to the collection and provision of data on natural emergencies that may occur in the territory of Bishkek.
Special attention was given to the systematization of the list of natural hazards monitored regularly by the aforementioned department. Existing mechanisms for forecasting and preventing natural disasters were also reviewed, which will help improve the effectiveness of measures to ensure the city’s environmental safety in the future.
The Department maintains an extensive database of up-to-date information on areas at risk of both natural and man-made emergencies. The information obtained will form the basis of design solutions in the future Master Plan, ensuring the safe development of Bishkek’s territory.
