The Capital Construction Department of Bishkek Mayor’s Office is implementing a project for the construction of a new building for secondary school No. 23, located at 281 Zhibek-Zholu Avenue.

The new building will be three-storeyed with a basement. The total area is 5,199.19 square meters, and the design capacity of the school is 560 places.

The structural solution includes a monolithic reinforced concrete foundation, brick exterior walls, a frame system, a multi-pitched roof and basalt insulation.

The 0.85 ha land plot is located at the intersection of Zhibek-Zholu Avenue and Osmonkula Street.

The territory will be landscaped and landscaped: a mini-football field, a basketball and volleyball court, a workout area, a children's playground, as well as asphalt, concrete and paving slabs, storm sewers and fire-fighting passageways are provided.

The functional layout of the building meets modern requirements for the organization of the educational process. Technical and utility rooms, storage rooms and a refrigerated chamber are provided in the basement. The ground floor will house primary school classrooms, a library, a medical unit, a canteen and administrative offices. The second floor will be occupied by subject rooms, laboratories and computer classes. On the third floor there will be an assembly and sports halls, club and creative rooms.

The contracting organization is LLC SK Leader House. Work is currently underway on the construction of a foundation pit at the facility.

Secondary school No. 23 was opened in 1952 and became the only school in the republic with advanced German language studies, as well as a basic school for teacher training.

However, on November 11, 2024, the building was closed according to the conclusion of the State Institute of Earthquake-Resistant Construction and Engineering Design, and in 2025 it was completely demolished. A modern educational complex is being built in its place, which will comply with all applicable building regulations, earthquake resistance requirements (8 points), as well as fire and explosion safety standards.
