The capital city of Bishkek has inaugurated the “BishkekSelMash” boiler plant, with the participation of the Mayor of Bishkek, Aybek Junushaliev.
The mayor congratulated everyone on the opening and highlighted the plant’s importance for city residents.
“As a result of all the works, a reliable, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly heat supply will be provided to the residents of the city,” he said.
Aybek Junushaliev also addressed the plant’s employees:
“Thanks to your work, an important facility for the city is now being commissioned. I express my sincere gratitude to each of you.”
The boiler plant, originally commissioned in 1974 and managed by the municipal enterprise “Bishkekteploenergo,” is undergoing phased reconstruction. The project aims to reduce technical losses, increase the reliability of heat supply, and lower the cost of thermal energy. Previously, technical losses reached up to 50%. The total cost of the project is approximately 206 million soms, of which 200 million soms were allocated from the Kyrgyz Republic’s Stabilization Fund.
At present, the first phase of the project will provide heat and hot water to 13,000 subscribers.
Another notable feature of the project is that the boilers were installed by the employees of “Bishkekteploenergo.”
In the first phase, six gas boilers with a capacity of 10 MW each have been installed. After commissioning, the cost of thermal energy will decrease from 6,679.78 soms to approximately 5,500 soms per Gcal, and with the connection of new subscribers, down to 5,000 soms per Gcal.
The second phase includes the installation of additional boilers and the expansion of the heating networks, while the third phase envisions the construction of a 100 MW cogeneration plant and a 110 kV substation.
The reconstruction of the “BishkekSelMash” boiler plant represents an important step in modernizing Bishkek’s heat supply system and improving its energy efficiency.
