On December 17, 2025, a meeting of the Coordinating Commission on Healthcare Management and the City Multisectoral Coordinating Committee on Socially Significant and Particularly Dangerous Infectious Diseases was held in the conference hall of the Emergency Medicine Center, chaired by Deputy Mayor Viktoriya Mozgacheva.
During the meeting, representatives of relevant services presented reports and discussed the current sanitary and epidemiological situation in Bishkek.
Key topics discussed included:
- Anthrax incidence, ongoing preventive, anti-epidemic, and epizootic measures, and the management of sarcophagi within the city;
- Tuberculosis incidence and related preventive measures;
- Progress in implementing the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Protecting Citizens’ Health from the Effects of Tobacco, Nicotine, and Exposure to Secondhand Smoke and Aerosols”.
As part of the anti-tobacco legislation, discussions focused on strengthening preventive and educational work, including showing informational videos on public transport in Bishkek.
Following the meeting, authorities were instructed to enhance comprehensive preventive and anti-epidemic measures against anthrax, including monitoring sarcophagi and sites, and conducting preventive and disinfection activities.
Additionally, the Bishkek City Veterinary and Phytosanitary Safety Service was tasked with strengthening monitoring and vaccination of domestic animals.
Regarding tuberculosis prevention, authorities were instructed to intensify early detection efforts, conduct preventive medical examinations and screenings, and ensure compliance with infection control requirements.
