An event within the framework of the museum initiative “Liberation: Resisting the Repression of Sign Language in Kyrgyzstan” was held at the KOS and KOG Cultural Center.
The initiative is being implemented by members of the Kyrgyz Society of the Deaf (KOG) and the Kyrgyz Society of the Blind (KOS) with the support of the Department of Cultural Heritage and Humanities at the School of Development, University of Central Asia.
The project, running from June to November 2025, aims to raise public awareness about the challenges and difficulties faced by deaf and hard-of-hearing citizens using sign language in Kyrgyzstan.
The event was attended by Viktoriya Mozgachyova, Deputy Mayor of Bishkek for Social Affairs, who emphasized the importance of promoting social inclusion and ensuring equal opportunities for all citizens. She stressed that the municipality is always ready to support initiatives aimed at developing an inclusive society and improving the quality of life for people with special needs.
Representatives of public organizations and educational institutions also participated in the event.
