A press conference on the development of the new Master Plan for Bishkek through 2050 was held in the city.

Journalists’ questions were addressed by Deputy Mayor Azamat Kadyrov, Chief Architect of Bishkek Meder Kydyrmaev, his First Deputy Aziret Akimov, and Head of the Engineering Infrastructure Department of the Research Institute for Prospective Urban Planning (LLC “NIIPG”) Evgeny Zhuravsky.

The Master Plan is being developed by the Research Institute for Prospective Urban Planning from Saint Petersburg.

To date, a comprehensive urban analysis has been completed, along with materials for the approved section of the Master Plan. Public hearings are scheduled for December 24–25, 2025. The draft will be available on the Bishkek City Hall website (https://bishkek.gov.kg/en) and the Master Plan portal (https://genplan.bishkek.gov.kg/en).

The Master Plan addresses key issues and solutions in transportation and infrastructure, including the construction of a tram network. It proposes the construction and reconstruction of over 650 social infrastructure facilities. In the economic and innovation sector, priorities include the development of the IT sector, a fashion cluster, the “Jewelry Valley,” support for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, green technologies, and reindustrialization of industrial zones. The plan also envisions urban agglomeration development, an increase in green areas from 590 to 2,110 hectares, and the creation of 1,520 hectares of new parks and squares to improve urban living standards.

The Master Plan aims to create a comfortable, sustainable, and modern city, enhance social welfare and economic resilience, with an expected population of approximately 2 million residents in Bishkek by 2050.
