A meeting chaired by Mayor Aibek Dzhunushaliev was held at the Bishkek City Hall to discuss preparations for two major international events to be hosted in the city in 2026 — the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit and the VI World Nomad Games — as well as ongoing urban improvement and greening initiatives.

The mayor emphasized the importance of coordinated work: “Our main goal is to create comprehensive infrastructure and ensure a high international standard for these events. Preparation lies on our shoulders, so everyone must work together, like clockwork.”

Key points discussed at the meeting included:

Urban beautification: City services were instructed to accelerate the replacement of street signs and banners with a unified style. Bishkekasfaltservice was tasked with ensuring both quality and aesthetics in road repairs.

Event management: Development of a single operational protocol for the city during major international events, covering public transport, restrictions, fan zones, and other logistical measures.

Tree planting and greening: Bishkekzelenstroy reported on preparations for the autumn mass tree planting. The Center for Digital Technologies was instructed to implement a digital monitoring system to track greening efforts on an interactive city map.

Mayor Dzhunushaliev highlighted the overarching priority: serving the residents of Bishkek. “It is very important to listen to citizens and fulfill all commitments. Honesty and responsibility are essential — every promise must be kept,” he said.

The meeting also included the establishment of a working group under the mayor’s leadership to coordinate preparations and ensure timely execution of all tasks.
