On October 1, 2025, a meeting was held in the conference hall of the Bishkek city municipality to discuss the implementation of the second component of the project “Air Quality Improvement in the Kyrgyz Republic”, funded by the World Bank.
The meeting was attended by Nurgazy Kurmanbekov, Deputy Mayor of Bishkek, Aiday Bayalieva, World Bank representative, officials from the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic, project implementation departments of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, as well as deputies of the heads of administrative districts for housing and utilities, and directors of municipal territorial administrations.
During the meeting, participants were presented with the components and financing of the project (2024–2030), along with plans for public awareness campaigns and cooperation with the media and the public.
The discussions focused on energy issues and the transition to clean technologies, project financing, and lending conditions.
As part of the second component, preferential loans will be provided through commercial banks for the purchase of eco-friendly heating systems for households and equipment suppliers in Bishkek.
Loans will be available for the purchase of heat pumps, solar water heaters, and electric boilers through Aiyl Bank, Eldik Bank, and Bakai Bank.
Following the meeting, participants emphasized the need to strengthen coordination among all stakeholders and ensure the timely implementation of the project to improve the city’s environmental situation and enhance the quality of life of Bishkek residents.
