The second batch of municipal buses is arriving in Bishkek.
Thus, the first 35 units of buses out of the remaining 500 have arrived in the capital. The rest of the buses will arrive in Bishkek within a month.
As a reminder, last year, during the state visit of President Sadyr Zhaparov to the People's Republic of China, a decision was made to purchase 1,000 gas-powered buses. According to the contract, half of them arrived in 2023 and the rest will arrive this year.
So when the buses arrive in full, the work of the capital's public transportation will improve significantly.
Intra-city routes served by minibuses will be replaced by buses.
In addition, since this type of public transportation runs on gas, there is an environmental benefit. More than a thousand diesel-powered minibuses will be transferred out of the city.
Also in 2024, within the framework of a project financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, 124 buses running on compressed natural gas will arrive in the capital. Currently, all buses are working on the line. A total of 250 buses will be purchased under this project.
The purchase of 120 electric buses is also planned within the framework of the Asian Development Bank project.
It should be noted that the works are carried out in order to improve urban infrastructure, to solve the problem of public transportation in the capital and to reduce traffic congestion.
