Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic - Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Zhaparov held a working meeting at the Bishkek City Hall on solving major urban problems, such as increased traffic, smog and timely garbage collection.
The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers noted that these problems, especially smog, are not given due attention.
"In winter, this is the No. 1 problem, as soon as spring comes, we forget about it. This shouldn't happen. We need to prepare for winter in the summer," Akylbek Zhaparov stressed and instructed to create a working group headed by the Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision.
He said that it is necessary to solve this problem in three directions:
⁃ providing the Bishkek thermal power plant with coal of appropriate quality, as well as conducting a technical audit of all its filters;
⁃ development and provision of a financial model for residential gasification within 14 days;
⁃ provision of automation of automobile flows with an emphasis on the number of vehicles, including trucks, entering the capital
"In many large megacities of the world, trucks are prohibited from entering the central part of the city. There are bypass roads and transport interchanges for the passage of this type of vehicle. It is also necessary to resolve the issue of parking spaces. Our drivers use the roadway, and sometimes sidewalks, as parking. A video camera should be installed on each bus to fix incorrectly parked cars. This information should go through the "Safe City" line and already come to drivers in the form of a fine for parking," the Head of the Cabinet of Ministers noted.
In turn, the Mayor of the capital Emilbek Abdikadyrov reported on the work done within the framework of previous instructions given during the expanded board of Bishkek.
He announced the conclusion of a contract for the construction of a waste recycling plant, as well as the implementation of the third phase of the project "Development of the Bishkek Road Network", which is funded by a Chinese grant.
In this context, it was noted that 18 road interchanges are planned to be built throughout the city, which will be able to "unload" the central and secondary streets of the capital.
The Head of the Cabinet expressed readiness to support the proposed projects, noting that the main goal of all measures is to improve the lives of citizens.
"Every citizen should see and feel these changes. So far, in fact, we only see broken pedestrian sidewalks, traffic jams, dust, chaotic buildings and a city hung with billboards. It's time to develop and start implementing a single design code. It is necessary to work tirelessly, only then there will be a result," Akylbek Zhaparov stressed.
