Bishkek hosted a seminar on prioritizing environmental issues in Bishkek within the framework of the EBRD's "Green City Action Plan" project.
Bishkek City is preparing the Green City Action Plan within the framework of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Green Cities program, which is implemented with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and sponsored by the Government of Japan.
A group of international consultants, in close cooperation with the municipality and the EBRD, assessed the current environmental condition of the city. The assessment was based on an analysis of indicators collected according to the EBRD/OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) methodology for the development of Green City action plans by sector, including data on water supply and sanitation, air quality, soil and other urban assets, urban transport, energy consumption, energy efficiency of buildings, solid waste, land use and other sectors.
The purpose of this event is to present the preliminary results of the assessment to State bodies and the public and to agree on the priorities developed for the further development of the action plan.
