The first meeting of the Council for Persons with Disabilities at the Bishkek City Hall was held in the metropolitan Municipality under the chairmanship of Deputy Mayor Victoria Mozgacheva.
The meeting was attended by deputies of the Bishkek City Kenesh, heads of structural and territorial divisions of the City Hall and representatives of public organizations in the field of protection of the rights of persons with disabilities.
According to the agenda, information on the implementation of the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On the rights and guarantees of persons with disabilities" was heard at the meeting.
The Deputy mayor noted that over the past 5 years, the increase in persons with disabilities in the city has amounted to 10% and today the main problems faced by persons with disabilities are access to quality education and medical services, provision of appropriate infrastructure, provision of quotas for employment.
Information was also heard on the execution of the minutes of the meeting of the Council for Persons with Disabilities under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic regarding the provision of access for persons with disabilities to the lifts of underground passages and the organization of buses adapted for persons with disabilities.
The Director of the Department of Transport informed about the arrival of new buses in the capital, which are fully adapted to the needs of people with disabilities.
In turn, the Deputy mayor additionally instructed to hold a working meeting on the commissioning of lifts of underground passages together with responsible services.
