The first day of republican command-and-staff civil protection exercises took place at Bishkek CHP, conducted under the decree of President Sadyr Japarov.

The exercises aim to assess the preparedness of management bodies and civil protection forces for earthquakes and other emergencies. They will continue until October 24 and are organized by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Speaking at the headquarters meeting, Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliev emphasized the importance of systematic preparation for potential natural disasters and highlighted preventive measures implemented in the capital:

“The channels of the Alamedin and Ala-Archa rivers have been cleared, embankment reinforcement works carried out, and retaining walls built. Thanks to these measures, flooding incidents observed last year were prevented in 2025.”

Participants included Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Urmatbek Shamyrkanov, heads of civil protection services, city departments, and the leaders of the four administrative districts of Bishkek. Representatives from all regions of the country joined via video conference.
